About me
My name is Nawaf Mohammad—an architect, educator, and founder of DaVinci Lab, an educational platform that blends architecture, technology, and storytelling. Based in Dubai, I work at the intersection of conceptual design, computational workflows, and AI-driven creativity. My journey started in the world of visual effects before shifting into architecture, where I found my passion in transforming abstract ideas into spatial narratives. During my studies, I won several design awards, including the prestigious Al-Omran Architecture Award. I’ve worked as a Design Manager at OBMI, led urban-scale projects across Iraq, and produced cinematic architectural films using tools like Unreal Engine and Revit. Through DaVinci Lab, I train the next generation of designers using interactive courses, gamified learning systems, and a pattern language-based methodology. My work focuses on empowering architectural thinking in the digital age—where coding, design, and cultural intelligence converge.
Design is more than form—it's a narrative. My approach to architecture begins with a deep investigation into the story behind the project: the cultural context, the emotional undertones, and the future impact. I craft design strategies that not only solve problems but also communicate purpose and identity. Whether it's a masterplan or a single facade, I believe every design should speak to its users through spatial storytelling, visual metaphors, and intentional sequencing. This philosophy is reflected in my teaching, where I guide students to think of architecture as a language of experience.
I specialize in leveraging computational design tools to translate abstract ideas into generative systems. Through platforms like Grasshopper, Rhino.Inside Revit, and custom Python scripts, I create workflows that are adaptive, precise, and data-informed. Parametric thinking allows me to explore multiple design iterations rapidly and to embed logic into form-making. I treat each design not as a fixed product, but as an evolving process—where geometry, performance, and context are interwoven through algorithms and systems thinking.
I actively integrate artificial intelligence into architectural workflows, not as a replacement for creativity, but as a tool to augment decision-making and enhance productivity. From prompt-based conceptual explorations using generative AI to automating routine tasks in BIM environments, I build intelligent systems that free architects to focus on what matters most: design intent. As founder of DaVinci Lab, I also develop AI-powered educational platforms that personalize learning, gamify architectural thinking, and prepare students for a tech-integrated design future.
